Breast Cancer Awareness Month and THE RIDE

Every October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Major breast cancer charities and organizations assemble each fall to raise awareness in this international health campaign.  In addition to raising awareness, the goal is to raise funds for research, support, prevention, education, diagnosis, treatments, and potential cures.

Across the nation and across the world, we’ve seen pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness proliferate since the early nineties.  In 2007 Tokyo Tower turned pink for October, just as in 2008 the White House was illuminated in pink light.

You can get involved, too.  The Race for the Cure is a powerful global event, where millions participate to raise funds and awareness for this debilitating disease, and you can sign up to run it.  Here at THE RIDE, we’d like to do our part in honor of NBCAM, too.  We’ve been serving sold-out shows to the people of Midtown with an interactive, 4.2 mile tour of the sights and sounds of Times Square in our state-of-the-art, sideways-facing coach for two years, and we’d like to aid in the fight against breast cancer, too.

To easily donate directly to Susan B. Komen for the Cure, you can visit their site here.  For the entire month of October, from the first through the thirty first, when you donate at least $5 to breast cancer research, you’ll get 20% off your purchase price for a ticket on THE RIDE.  Furthermore, for every ticket purchased through Broadwayoffers.com with the code RDBCA, we’ll donate $1 to Komen.

Sorry, Code is no longer active : October 31st, 2012

RIDE Performer Jessica Bracy in Dracula

Come October, Jessica Bracy, a longtime tapper, ballet dancer, and member of THE RIDE’s performance team, will start her new gig!  Jessica has just been cast as the First Bride of Dracula in the upcoming draMAStic Dance Works production, “Dracula, danse macabre.”  If you’re near The North Street Playhouse, Inc. in Onancock, VA at the end of this month, check it out.

Dracula, danse macabre” is an original adaptation of Bram Stoker’s enduring masterpiece, directed and choreographed by Mary Stiegelbauer, which premiered in Virginia this past April.  Jessica premiers in her featured role on Friday October 26th and Saturday October 27th at 8 PM, and we couldn’t be more excited for her.

Just in time for Halloween, Jessica Bracy will help bring this gothic novel to life through dance.  You still have time to catch her a little closer to home when you come experience THE RIDE!

THE RIDE in Times Square Magazine

Times Square Magazine featured THE RIDE, Charles Fazzino, and our show-stopping Fazzino RIDE.  With Perez Hilton gracing its cover, the magazine features interviews with D.L. Hughly,  David Cassidy, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Fazzino and Richard Humphrey of THE RIDE.

The article, by Jay Eff and Lorenzo Tartamella, describes the origin of THE RIDE, from its premier in October 2010 to the partnership between internationally renowned artist Fazzino and RIDE CEO Humphrey to create the Fazzino RIDE.  Both RIDE powerhouses give interviews for the article, describing what draws customers to THE RIDE.

For Fazzino, whose distinctive Cityscape paintings distill the many aspects of a place into a cohesive microcosm, Times Square does the same thing for all of New York.  “Times Square is the heart and soul of THE RIDE.  THE RIDE works because of the concentration of people…that are walking and moving around Times Square, like Times Square is part of the bus.”

Humphrey, CEO of the RIDE, points to THE RIDE’s innovative, hybrid nature as the reason for its success.  “It’s a wonderful collaboration of the known and the unknown,” he says.  “We’re part tour, part show!”

Indeed, as the article describes, THE RIDE blends physical aspects of the city, like location and architecture, with cultural aspects, like performance and music, and technological aspects, like neon lights and interactive screens.  Pick up your copy of the New York Times Magazine for more info, and come experience THE RIDE next time you have the chance!

TripAdvisor Honors THE RIDE

Whether you’re a tourist or a travel writer, it’s a smart idea to do some browsing on TripAdvisor for some tips for your trip.  They’re a trusted source for visitors from nearby and far off, with families or going solo.  Plus, ever since they awarded THE RIDE with a Certificate of Excellence, in our opinion their always stellar advice has seemed to us even more spot-on than usual!

Users of TripAdvisor rate their experiences on a scale of 1-5, and every year the site awards those destinations with four out of five or better with a Certificate of Excellence.  Not only is our TripAdvisor Rating a consistent 4/5, but we’ve also risen above many of our competitors in New York with a ranking in the top 99 bus tours.

Thanks to ratings from those who have experienced THE RIDE, we’re a winner for 2012.

The high quality rankings from happy customers surely stems from the fantastic shows we produce that coincides with the tour.  Complete with interactive screens, 3D art, and spontaneous musical numbers in the street, the RIDE elevates the age-old coach tour in order to provide excellence every night.

If you want to check out what everyone’s talking about, hop on our arena on wheels that turns Times Square into the kind of scene you’ve seen only in movies.  If our high standards are in line with yours, give us feedback on TripAdvisor to help us to earn our spot among the very best and receive another Certificate of Excellence in 2013!
